RFQ: Call for Regional Artists & Illustrators

Thrive seeks to commission a regional artist, designer, or illustrator (or two) to create two original designs that visually captures the spirit of inspired community growth here in our corner of Southern Appalachia.

Design One

“Inspiring Responsible Growth” – Visual Design for Thrive Regional Partnership 

Deadline to Submit: June 2, 2025

Project Timeline: Final artwork due by July 21, 2025

Budget: $1,000

Applications include, but are not limited to:

  • Screen-printed items such as t-shirts and tote bags
  • Vinyl stickers

Design Two

“Yes, and…” – Visual Identity for Thrive’s Tri-State Summit

Deadline to Submit: 

Project Timeline:  Final artwork due by July 21, 2025

Budget: $1,000 

Applications include, but are not limited to:

  • Custom branded, screen-printed items such as t-shirt and tote bag
  • A commemorative poster (included in event swag bags)
  • A digital video wall backdrop behind speakers
  • Name badges

We envision these projects as a collaborative process between the selected artist and our communications team. The artist will be asked to participate in a brief concept conversation and share progress updates along the way.

File Types and Specifications

We’re asking for flexible, high-quality digital files that can be used across print and digital formats. Deliverables should include:

  • Scalable vector version: .AI, .EPS, or .SVG
  • High-resolution raster version: .PNG and .JPG (minimum 300 dpi)
  • Transparent background version: for layered applications
  • Full-color and grayscale versions if possible
  • Poster-sized layout: min. 11x17" at 300 dpi
  • File must be original and not use copyrighted or stock elements

We will work with the artist on any necessary adjustments for specific applications (such as color limits for screen printing).

Application Requirements

In a single email, please send the following to Haley Horne at hhorne@thriveregion.org by June 2, 2025:

  • 5 high-quality images that reflect your artistic style
  • A link to your website, portfolio, or social media
  • A brief statement (2–3 sentences) about your interest in the project and your connection to the region

Eligibility

This project is open to artists, designers, and illustrators who live and/or work in the tri-state greater Chattanooga region which includes: Dekalb and Jackson County, Alabama; Catoosa, Dade, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield County, Georgia; and Bledsoe, Bradley, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, and Sequatchie County, Tennessee. 

Preference given to those who demonstrate a connection to community, place, or storytelling in their work.

Proven experience in collaboration and responsiveness are essential.
