Thrive Celebration 2016
The Year of Transportation
The Thrive Regional Partnership welcomed 200 of the region's movers and shakers to celebrate year one of our Thriving Communities project and launch the Year of Transportation in the tristate region. President/CEO Bridgett Massengill launched the event, which included a tribute to Thrive 2055 chair Daniel R. Jacobson.
Keynote speaker David Parker, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Covenant Transportation Group provided entertaining insight into the world of freight and the hurdles that our region faces with road congestion and a growing Southeast economy.
We also awarded custom signs to our inaugural Thriving Communities, who have shown incredible creativity in year one of their three-year projects to bring vitality to their communities through their arts and culture assets.
The pre-event vendor fair featured exhbitors from Thrive projects, as well as the region's transportation initiatives and small businesses, including Certified Electric Bike Specialists, Green Commuter Chattanooga, the Northwest Georgia Bicycle and Pedestrian Feasibility study, Bright-Spark and the University of Tennessee Interdisciplinary Geospatial Technology Lab, home to the Thrive GEO database.
The highlight for everyone was getting to see the world from a truck driver's perspective in the Tennessee Trucking Association's Share the Road Truck, powered by Covenant Transportation. Thrive Regional Partnership chair, Connie Vaughan, gives the high sign from the driver's seat.
